Gareth and Angharad Kemble roast speciality coffee from a unit on Threlkeld Business Park, at the foot of Blencathra outside Keswick. The couple met in a family-run coffee shop in Wales, moved to Cumbria in 2009, and launched Carvetii two years later. Angharad works as head roaster, running small batches through the site's drum roaster and adjusting profiles by taste rather than by chart. The roastery supplies cafes and hotels across the Lakes alongside its own online shop and offers barista training to wholesale customers. Alongside coffee, Carvetii sells loose-leaf tea and hot chocolate, all packed on site. The company takes its name from the Carvetii, the Brittonic tribe once native to Cumbria.
