Cigydd Bala Butcher trades from 69 High Street in Bala under Mark Watkins, who established the shop with his wife as M & N Watkins in 2008. Beef, pork and poultry are bought directly from farms around Bala, and lamb is bought at the town's livestock market auction, with the counter offering full traceability back to the supplying farms. Alongside fresh meat the shop stocks Welsh yoghurt, milk and cheese, free-range eggs, fruit and vegetables, and a daily bake of pies and pasties made on the premises. The butcher also supplies local guest houses and restaurants and runs a weekly delivery round to surrounding villages. It is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, closing on Sundays, and has held its High Street unit under the same family ownership since opening.
