Cross Foxes has stood on Longden Coleham in Shrewsbury as a free house since the late 1980s, run by the same family since 1985. Four cask ales are kept on permanently rather than rotated, including Draught Bass alongside Three Tuns XXX and two Wye Valley beers, a fixed line-up that regulars have come to rely on. The L-shaped bar has a log burner at one end and a darts area at the other, and dogs are welcome throughout. It holds a regular entry in the Good Beer Guide and was accredited for beer quality in 2022. There is no food menu and no music competing with conversation, just a bar built around consistency rather than novelty. Wheelchair users are asked to call ahead given the building's step at the entrance.
