D.C. Scott& Sons

D.C. Scott & Sons has traded as a butcher on Church Street in Ormskirk since 1923, when Donald Cameron McLeod Scott, known locally as Jack Scott, bought the shop and its rear slaughterhouse from Hubert Hulmes. In 1971 the family acquired the grocer's next door, opening it the following year as a delicatessen connected to the butchery counter. Ownership passed in 2006 when Peter and Donald Scott retired, handing the single-site business to four long-serving staff, Anthony Rawsthorne, Ian Bridge, David Birks and Stuart Mills, who continue trading under the founding name. The shop supplies grass-fed beef and other meat to local hotels, restaurants, schools and pubs as well as walk-in customers, alongside deli lines from the adjoining counter. It remains one of Ormskirk's oldest continuously trading family businesses.
