Wood End Alpacas operates from Wood End Farm, a working hill farm of some 1,000 acres in Dunsop Bridge at the heart of the Forest of Bowland, run by the same family since the early twentieth century. The farm, which the Queen visited in 1989, has long raised beef cattle and sheep across the Hodder valley, with a large part of its land under an environmental stewardship scheme protecting hedgerows, meadows and stone walls. In recent years it has diversified, introducing a herd of alpacas alongside its livestock and opening the farm to two-hour guided walks, birthday parties, corporate days and educational visits led by farm manager Alison Whitaker. The single-site business remains first and foremost a working farm rather than a purpose-built tourist attraction.
