Chef-landlord Michael Heathcote has run the Higher Buck on Waddington's main square for two decades, with several members of his kitchen and front-of-house team staying more than fifteen years. The inn has seven en-suite bedrooms upstairs, and the ground-floor dining room serves dishes such as a cheddar soufflé with apple chutney and a steamed steak and ale pudding. The restaurant opens for lunch and dinner Monday to Saturday and all afternoon on Sunday, with dinner, bed, and breakfast packages available through the week. Heathcote also owns two other pubs nearby in the Ribble Valley, keeping the small group independent of any larger pub company.
