Ministry of Ale occupies the former Nelson Hotel on Trafalgar Street, a two-storey stone building with etched glass and ornate floor tiling still intact. It was Burnley's first brewpub, home to Moonstone Brewery from 2001 until brewing ceased in 2018, and continues to trade as a free house with a rotating range of cask ales, a Thursday quiz night and displays of old Burnley pub photographs.
