The White Bull dates to 1707 and stands on Church Street in Ribchester, overlooking The Hillock at the centre of this former Roman settlement. The Grade II listed sandstone building is fronted by a two-storey gabled porch on paired Doric columns, long said to have been recovered from the bed of the River Ribble and originally part of a Roman bathhouse. One of its rooms served as the village courthouse and holding cell in the eighteenth century. The single-site pub was fully refurbished in 2019, restoring original features while adding three en-suite bedrooms, and won a Tripadvisor Traveller's Choice award in 2022. It changed hands again in late 2025 and continues to serve as Ribchester's village pub and inn under its new owners.
