Dunvegan Bakery has baked on the same corner of Skinidin, on the edge of Dunvegan, since around 1870, making it the oldest bakery on Skye. Each morning the ovens turn out bread, pies, cakes and the apple turnovers regulars ask for by name. A recent staff shortage ended table service, so the bakery now runs as a takeaway counter with a few tables outside for anyone who wants to eat on the spot. Trade often clears the shelves before the early-afternoon close, so regulars are advised to call in soon after opening. There is no working shopfront website; the bakery trades on foot traffic and its long-standing local reputation on this stretch of the A863 near Loch Dunvegan.
