East Somerset Railway runs steam trains from Cranmore station on a five-mile round trip through Mendip countryside, a journey of about 35 minutes. Wildlife artist David Shepherd founded the heritage line in 1974 to house two steam locomotives he had rescued, Black Prince and The Green Knight. It operates as a registered charity.
