Ewen Duncan has owned Europa Music since it moved from Alloa to Stirling's Friars Street in 1992, having first opened the shop in Alloa in 1976. The browsable stock runs to around twenty thousand LPs and a similar number of seven-inch singles, alongside ten thousand twelve-inch records, guitar strings and band t-shirts, making it the largest vinyl shop of its kind in Scotland. Duncan has organised Record Store Day events at the shop since 2009, after a fellow Scottish record shop owner encouraged him to take part, and now puts on live bands on the street outside to keep trade moving along Friars Street on the day. Customers buy, sell and trade vinyl, CDs and DVDs across every genre.
