Heritage Courtyard Galleryand Studios

Heritage Courtyard Gallery and Studios opened in 2015 in a courtyard building on Sadler Street in Wells, a short walk from the cathedral. It houses working studios and a gallery space shared by around twenty resident artists, including painters, printmakers, textile artists and ceramicists, who sell original work through the gallery and open their individual studios to visitors by appointment outside regular hours. A rolling programme of exhibitions runs through the year, including a summer show each July, and the centre hosts workshops in disciplines such as calligraphy, oil painting, watercolour, willow work, bookbinding, life drawing and kintsugi repair. The courtyard space is also available for private event hire. The gallery opens Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays, though individual studios can be visited by prior arrangement at other times.
