Hyndland Bookshop

David and Cathy Kinnear, both former librarians, have run Hyndland Bookshop since 1982 and have traded from its current Hyndland Road premises since 1997. The shop sells new titles only, stocking fiction, poetry and non-fiction across a single small shopfront, and is often described as one of the last independent sellers of new books left in Glasgow. A mail order service, expanded during the pandemic, still runs alongside walk-in trade, with the Kinnears posting titles to customers who cannot get to the shop in person. The bookshop has kept its stock almost entirely to new titles rather than diversifying into secondhand or gift lines, a narrower focus than most surviving independents in the city.
