John Burns & Son(The Spott Nursery)

John Burns & Son grows and sells bedding plants and hanging baskets from the Spott Nursery on Cutstraw Road in Stewarton, a family business now in its fourth generation. Around 30,000 square feet of glasshouses, plus polytunnels for shade-loving stock, support a range that includes six-packs of bedding plants, pre-filled and made-to-order hanging baskets, non-stop begonias, trailing plants and 13cm pot plants, alongside compost and autumn bedding for the seasonal changeover. The nursery has taken prizes for its bedding plants and hanging baskets at the Ayr Flower Show over a number of years running. It opens from 1 April, with most stock ready for collection from mid-May, and customers are asked to call ahead of picking up an order. The business supplies gardeners across Ayrshire and into south Glasgow, and continues to trade from the same nursery site the family has worked across four generations.
