Number Forty-Seven occupies a long single room on Templehill in Troon, trading under an independent free house licence rather than tied to any one brewery. Six handpulls rotate beers from smaller Scottish breweries such as Cairngorm and Stewart alongside better-known names like Black Sheep, and Weston's Old Rosie is kept on for cider drinkers. The pub was previously known locally as Cheeky Charlies before its current name and refurbishment. A quiz runs every Thursday night, and a resident DJ takes over on Friday and Saturday evenings once the kitchen and early crowd have cleared. Dogs are welcome throughout, sport plays on the screens, and the bar stays open later than most of its neighbours on the town's main route, closing between one and half past two in the morning depending on the night.
