The Chippy has traded from Railway Street in Antrim town centre since the late 1980s, building its reputation around the chicken spacer, a whole chicken fillet fried in batter, which has stayed on the menu since opening. Alongside fish and chips, the shop serves burgers, kebabs, baguettes, pasties and chicken goujons, with collection, delivery and online ordering available seven days a week. The shop holds a five-star food hygiene rating and won the national Quality Award Champion Award in 2013, recognition given to independent chip shops judged on food standards and preparation. It opens later on Friday and Saturday nights to cover the town's evening trade, and shorter hours on Sunday afternoons. Now approaching four decades on the same Railway Street site, it has kept its counter-service format rather than converting to table seating, serving a mix of walk-in trade and phone and app orders from across Antrim town.
