The Bistro

David Storrie opened The Bistro on Sandgate in December 2022, in premises previously occupied by Macfarlane's, bringing twenty-five years in the trade to a menu built around Scottish produce. Meat comes from Jim Nisbet at Sorn Mains Farm, wine from Corney & Barrow, and whisky recommendations from Robbie's Drams, all named on the menu rather than left generic. The dining room seats guests for lunch, dinner and cocktails seven days a week, staying open until midnight on weeknights and later at weekends. Storrie also runs The Smoking Goat bar nearby, and staff are told to treat every table the way they would treat their own family. The result is a straightforward, locally supplied menu of burgers, fish, roast chicken and grills served in a compact town centre room.
