La Taverna,Aviemore

La Taverna occupies a single dining room within the High Range holiday complex on Grampian Road in Aviemore, a site the Vastano family developed from 1976, opening the restaurant the following year to serve the Highlands' ski trade. For four decades the family cooked Neapolitan-style pizza and traditional Italian dishes for locals and visitors to the Cairngorms. Ownership passed to Stephen White in 2018, after which Toni and Nando Vastano stayed on to help run the kitchen and dining room. The restaurant continues to trade as a single, independently run pizzeria and bar rather than part of a wider restaurant group, offering vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options alongside its wood-fired pizzas and pasta dishes, with the Cairngorm massif visible from its windows.
