Michael's Bookshop

Michael Child opened his King Street bookshop in 1987 and still runs it with his wife Anna. The shop holds around 25,000 secondhand books across more than 100 bookcases, priced to undercut the online market, alongside new and secondhand titles on the history of Ramsgate, Margate, Broadstairs and the wider Isle of Thanet. Michael's Bookshop publishes its own run of local history books and maps from the premises, around 210 titles so far, some printed in the cellar below the shop floor. It closes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
