Colin Aris opened Thanet's first micropub — the fourth in the country — in 2010, in a room on Grange Road with no television, no fruit machines and no lager taps, and retired after a decade; Mike Beaumont, who also runs Ramsgate's Four Candles micropub and its tiny brewery, took the stewardship on in 2020, disclosed here as a two-room empire. The casks lean on Oakham, Ramsgate and Titsey, the cider is real, and the Tuesday quiz is the loudest the place gets. CAMRA's surveyors keep the page current and the reviews keep naming the staff, which in a micropub is the entire management structure.
