Rebel Cinema was purpose-built as a single screen at Treskinnick Cross, Poundstock, just outside Bude, in 1987-88, and remains a commercially operated independent business without external funding beyond pandemic support. A second screen was added in 2014, and the original screen was refitted in 2016 with digital 3D projection and Dolby 7.1 sound in both auditoria. The site keeps a full concessions counter selling popcorn, ice cream and sweets, and offers online seat booking rather than requiring a phone call. Wheelchair spaces are available on the ground floor and both screens run loop-induction systems for hearing aid users. Where multiplexes elsewhere in Cornwall belong to national chains, Rebel is owned and operated locally, one of a shrinking number of independently run cinemas still screening first-run releases in the county. The car park sits directly outside both screens.
