Ruardean Garden Pottery is a working pottery on the edge of the Forest of Dean, established in 1979 by John and Rose Huggins. John throws hand-made terracotta garden pots and planters using techniques built up over more than forty years, having previously exhibited at the Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows. Alongside the garden pottery, the workshop produces contemporary ceramics, with a gallery displaying finished pieces for sale. The Huggins run pottery classes for complete beginners through to experienced throwers, ranging from half-day and full-day tasters to weekend courses and intensive throwing weeks, plus a dedicated big-pot course for larger vessels. The workshop looks out toward Wales across the Wye Valley. It opens Thursday to Saturday from March to December, closing through January and February, and visitors are advised to telephone ahead.
