The Smith family has farmed at Chapel Brampton since 1958, when they began selling strawberries from an honesty box at the field gate before moving into potatoes and, later, becoming one of the first UK growers to bring asparagus over from the eastern Mediterranean. That produce stand has grown into a farm shop with a butcher hall run by Sauls of Spratton, a deli counter and a café serving dishes made from what is grown and reared on site. Meat comes from the home farm and nearby growers, with the counter cutting to order rather than pre-packing everything in advance. The shop sits on Brampton Lane on the edge of the village, a short drive from Northampton, and remains under Smith family ownership.
