The ClayChapel

Karen founded Chapelside Ceramics from a home studio before taking on the chapel next door in 2023 and converting it into what is now The Clay Chapel, a pottery studio on Northampton's High Street in Weston Favell. The building keeps its original stained glass, filling the studio with coloured light during throwing and hand-building sessions, and includes a walled garden used for outdoor clay work in warmer months. Regular six-week Ceramics for All courses cover hand-building, wheel-throwing, surface decoration and glazing in groups capped at six students, alongside monthly Sunday workshops, one-off taster sessions on the wheel or by hand, and paid studio membership for people who already know how to throw. Firing and materials are included in course fees, with finished pieces collected once glazed and fired rather than taken home the same day.
