The CraftHouse

April Chamberlain opened The Craft House in Saltaire in 2016 before moving the business to larger premises on Main Street in Bingley in 2020. The workshop runs alongside a café, with a programme of taught sessions covering ceramics, textiles, glass, painting and drawing, pitched at complete beginners as much as people with some experience already. Classes tend to run in small groups around a single long table, with materials supplied and pieces fired or finished on site rather than taken home unglazed. The café serves drinks and cake to people waiting between sessions or simply passing through Bingley's main shopping street. Opening hours run seven days a week, with earlier closing on Sundays. The shop also sells finished pieces made on site, from glazed mugs to small framed prints, alongside general art materials.
