Saltaire Art Gallery& School

Nina Hunter founded Saltaire Art School in 2020 after fifteen years working in brand and design for clients including Christian Dior, teaching drawing and painting from basic proportion and shadow through to life drawing and portraiture. The popularity of the classes led her to open Saltaire Art Gallery next door in 2023, showing work by current students alongside visiting artists in a space a short walk from Salts Mill. Hunter, who trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and now lectures at Leeds Arts University, teaches many of the courses herself rather than delegating to hired tutors. Courses run as short blocks or longer beginner-to-advanced programmes, with one-to-one mentoring available for those preparing portfolios. The gallery changes its hang every few months to keep pace with the school's newest work. Exhibition openings are announced by email, not adverts.
