Ormeau Road · BelfastSurveyed

The Errigle Inn opened on 13 December 1935 on the Ormeau Road, built on the foundations of the old Ballynafeigh Inn, with Charlie McQuade as first proprietor and TJ McGurran as first manager. The pub takes its name not from Mount Errigal in Donegal, as many assume, but from a townland in Co Monaghan where Mrs McQuade was originally from. One of its rooms, Tom McGurran's Bar, was built in 1998 as a tribute to TJ McGurran, and Philip McGurran later carried that tradition forward by bringing touring bands through the venue. It operates as a free house rather than being tied to a single brewery, rotating two or three cask ales alongside keg lines that regularly feature Northern Ireland breweries such as Bullhouse and Whitewater. The building spans five separate bars plus a beer garden and roof terrace, with food served daily from late morning into the evening.
