The Market Cafe operates from a corner of Huntly Auction Mart, serving farmers, mart workers and the wider town from a plain, functional dining room overlooking the sale ring. Fiona Forrest took over the cafe and has run it with her daughters Abbie and Lucy, who help out alongside her. The kitchen turns out cooked breakfasts, soup, stovies and home baking through the day, with suppers served on Saturday evenings and a high tea on Sunday evenings. Custom stretches beyond mart days, drawing regulars from across Huntly and the surrounding glens who come for plain home cooking rather than anything fashionable. The cafe also caters outside events, providing food for weddings and private parties held locally. Seating is basic and canteen-style, built for turnover on busy mart mornings.
