The SomersetInn Micropub

The Somerset Inn opened on 17 April 2025 in a former hair salon at 40 Fore Street, Chard, retaining the building's old sign, Somerset House, above the door. The single-room micropub is a single-site operation with no fruit machines, jukebox or television, favouring conversation and traditional pub games instead. More than thirty ciders from West Country producers, including Rawlins Family Cider, Sandford Orchards and Perry's, sit alongside cask ale, lager and spirits. There is no kitchen, so customers bring food from neighbouring shops, among them the chip shop next door. Dogs and children are welcome. In May 2025 the Food Standards Agency awarded the pub a five rating, its top score for hygiene.
