The Taphouse occupies a Grade II listed building on West Borough in Wimborne Minster, a real ale bar that opened in December 2013 under Katy and Gordon Compston. Katy Compston remains the registered director of the business, which pours between eight and twelve cask ales at any one time, drawn from breweries across Dorset alongside guest beers from further afield. There is no fruit machine or television, and the room is arranged around the bar itself rather than separate dining tables, with regulars often standing to talk between rounds. The pub hosts folk music nights on a regular basis, drawing performers and audiences from across the county, and stocks ciders and a changing list of bottled beers alongside the cask offering. The building's nineteenth-century frontage remains largely unaltered on a street of similar listed properties.
