Trevor Leat works from Minnoch on Main Street in Auchencairn, weaving willow into baskets, hurdles, coffins, chairs, and large sculptural pieces. He has worked with willow for more than thirty years, building a reputation as one of the country's most sought-after willow sculptors. Past commissions include wicker peacocks for Scone Palace and a willow figure of Mary, Queen of Scots for Falkland Palace, and his large-scale sculptures have featured at the Wickerman Festival and Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations. Alongside sculptural work, he makes functional baskets and living willow structures such as domes and tunnels, and has run workshops for schools and community groups across Scotland. Visits to the workshop and commission enquiries are arranged directly with him by appointment rather than through set opening hours.
