Turners Traditional Farm Butchers operates from Highfield Farm in Ringmer, where the Turner family has farmed for five generations. Brothers Bob and Colin Turner run a small cattle herd on the farm and butcher the meat themselves, alongside a smokehouse producing bacon and other cured items sold from the same shop. The farm diversified into brewing after a foot-and-mouth outbreak hit the herd hard, and the two sides of the business now run alongside each other, with cattle fed spent grain from the brewery as part of their diet. Meat, sausages and smoked goods are sold direct from the farm shop rather than through wholesalers, with customers able to see the fields the animals graze from the car park. The shop keeps traditional butchery skills such as whole-carcass breaking and dry-curing going on site rather than buying in pre-cut meat.
