Wild Clay Studios was founded in June 2023 by ceramicists Jess Xuereb and Rosi Tooth, who met at another Bristol pottery studio before setting up their own space on West Street in Bedminster. The studio runs hand-building pottery classes centred on coiling, slab building and pinching rather than the wheel, aimed at beginners and improvers who want to make finished pieces they can glaze and underglaze themselves. Xuereb is a self-taught ceramicist specialising in hand-built work, while Tooth works across ceramics, printmaking and illustration. Sessions are booked individually rather than run to fixed daily opening hours, and finished, fired pieces are collected in weekly batches announced by the studio. The space functions as both a teaching studio and a working pottery, with members able to return for further sessions once they have completed an introductory class.
