Jonathan and Yasmin Farrer bought Aberley House on Beach Lawn in 2018 and spent months restoring the Victorian terrace, built in 1866, before opening it as a guest house overlooking Liverpool Bay. Each of the six bedrooms is named rather than numbered, several with sea views toward Antony Gormley's cast-iron figures on Crosby Beach, a short walk from the front door. The house keeps a games room with a full-size snooker table and dartboard, alongside links to the terrace's original occupants in Liverpool's shipping trade. Guests reach the city centre on a fifteen-minute train from Waterloo station rather than needing a car. Aberley House sits within the wider Beach Lawn Terrace, a row of merchants' villas built for the Victorian shipping trade, and much of the original plasterwork and joinery survives in its reception rooms.
