Steve and Emma have run the Alamo as a family guesthouse since 2005, restoring an 1880s listed Victorian townhouse on Gray Street to take in visitors rather than converting it into flats. The building looks straight across Kelvingrove Park to the art gallery and museum, and rooms range from standard doubles to a handful of suites with free-standing bathtubs and window seats overlooking the park. Breakfast is cooked to order each morning rather than served buffet-style, and the hosts handle bookings and check-in themselves rather than through an agency desk. Finnieston's restaurants and bars are a short walk away, making the guesthouse a base for visitors who want to stay near the West End without booking into the city centre. It operates as a single property rather than part of a wider hotel group.
