Alex Allpress Pottery School runs from a studio on Church Street in Builth Wells, where Alex Allpress and his wife Blue MacAskill have been throwing pots since 1999 and teaching others to do the same since 2007. The school offers wheel-throwing and hand-building for all ages, from two-hour taster sessions to weekly Thursday evening and Friday daytime courses, plus one-to-one sessions adapted for neurodiverse students and home-schooled children. Group bookings run from two people up to twenty-five, and local schools send classes for structured workshops in stoneware. All work is finished in high-fired stoneware rather than earthenware, glazed and fired on site. The studio opens seven days a week, a rarity for a rural craft business, and takes on visitors as readily as regular students. Offers classes to individuals, families and groups by appointment.
