Andrew Walker runs his ceramics studio from a small industrial unit on Chippinghouse Road, on the fringe of Nether Edge, making sculptural vessels he describes as shaped by architecture, space and light. Alongside his own practice he teaches hand-building and wheel-throwing classes, from single afternoon sessions to six-week beginner courses and dedicated dinner-set workshops, with all materials included in the price. Group sizes stay small, and the studio offers open membership for people who have finished a course and want ongoing access to wheels, kilns and glazes. Prices range from around forty-five pounds for a short session to close to two hundred for the longest courses. Walker favours patient, one-to-one attention over a packed timetable, and the space keeps an unfussy, working-studio feel, with pieces from his own contemporary range on display and for sale.
