Bardic Vintage Books sits on Church Street in Llantwit Major, in a shopfront that previously housed an antiques dealer before owner Kath took it over. Shelves run to every corner of the small space, mixing secondhand and vintage titles with a run of new stock, Welsh-language books and works of local, mythological and Celtic interest. The shop also stocks vinyl records and small runs of art and craft made by local makers, and Kath prices stock to move rather than to collector rates, with hardbacks going for as little as a pound. She runs a blind date with a book table for browsers who want a surprise, and hosts author events roughly once a month. The shop is open from Wednesday through Sunday, closed at the start of the week like several of the town's other independent traders.
