Bay Coffee Roasters built its Carmarthen cafe at 41-45 Richmond Terrace around a Rubasse Nano roaster, billed as the world's smallest commercial coffee roaster, so customers watch beans turn while they order. The company roasts exclusively single-origin Arabica to a medium-light profile at its main roastery in Cardigan, sourcing lots from Sumatra, Kenya, Mexico, Colombia and India, several carrying Fairtrade and Organic certification. All roasting runs on wind and solar power, a point of distinction in a trade where the company says most other roasters still burn gas. The Carmarthen site, open 8am to 4pm daily, is Bay's first standalone cafe, opened after supplying wholesale and online customers from its base near Tresaith on the Cardigan coast. The business has collected five consecutive Great Taste Awards.
