Origin has traded as a makers' co-operative from 23 King Street in Carmarthen since the early 1990s, making it one of the longer-running craft outlets in the county. The shop is run collectively by more than two dozen artists and makers from Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, who take turns staffing the till and stocking shelves with their own ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles, woodwork and prints. Stock changes as makers rotate their pieces, so the shop is not tied to any single style. The co-operative trades from this one King Street shop only, with no second branch elsewhere in Wales, and continues to recruit new makers from the surrounding three counties as places on the rota become free.
