Cairnie Fruit Farm sits on around 120 acres of land outside Cupar that the same family has farmed since 1970, and it describes itself as the original pick-your-own fruit farm in Scotland. Visitors pick strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, brambles, redcurrants, blackcurrants and cherries through the summer months from open fields, with a farm shop and café serving home baking alongside the picking. From mid-July to October the farm opens a six-acre maize maze, and October brings a pumpkin patch now in its 26th year, with more than 15,000 pumpkins grown for picking. A children's play area, the Funyard, runs alongside the fruit fields with activities aimed at younger visitors. The farm operates seven days a week through peak summer, narrowing to Wednesday to Sunday in September and reopening daily through October for the maze and pumpkin season; picking areas now require booking through the farm's own online system. Dogs on leads are welcome across most of the site.
