The Ship sits in the three-sided square of fishermen's cottages at Low Newton, facing the sand with Dunstanburgh's ruins down the beach, and brews its own beer in-house — Sea Coal and Sea Wheat the house pair, four guests rotating — which makes it self-sufficient in the only commodity that matters here. Christine Forsyth has run it since settling in the village in 1999, her daughter Hannah alongside, and the Telegraph's county-by-county pub survey named it Northumberland's best, a verdict the January 2025 coverage confirmed and the beach queue ratifies daily. The square itself belongs to the National Trust as landlord — stated for precision — but the pub, the brewery and the crab sandwiches are entirely Forsyth's. Arrive at opening or eat standing.
