Clocktower Records was opened in 2015 by Roy Gregory in a unit on the St Michael's Trading Estate, a former sailcloth factory in Bridport now given over to small independent workshops and studios. The shop deals in new and secondhand vinyl across most genres, from soul and reggae to rock and folk, and buys, sells and trades records over the counter rather than only online. It was voted the top independent record shop in the south and south-west, and third in the country, in a public poll of more than 260 vinyl shops. Browsers can spend an afternoon working through the crates before continuing round the rest of the trading estate, which includes other small makers and a vintage market on selected weekends. The shop keeps regular daytime hours through the week and is one of a small handful of dedicated vinyl retailers left in west Dorset.
