Brewing has run on this Bridport site since 1794, under the only thatched brewhouse left at any British brewery, and the Palmer family — who bought the works in the late nineteenth century and gave it their name — are still in the building: John Palmer and Emily Palmer Ramus, the founders' great-grandson and great-great-granddaughter, work in the company today. Two-hour tours run twice a day on weekdays, year-round, walking the full production process and ending in a tasting at the Palmers Wine Store, and a tenanted estate of pubs carries the beer across Dorset, Devon and Somerset. Two hundred and thirty years of continuous brewing was marked in 2024.
