Derwen Garden Centre sits on land at Guilsfield, a few miles from Welshpool, bought in 1995 by Andy and Kath Joseph for tree production alongside their existing Dingle Nurseries business, which the couple had started in 1968 growing Christmas trees on an acre of family land. The garden centre opened on the Guilsfield site shortly after the purchase, selling trees, hedging and general plants alongside gifts and homeware. A farm shop was added in 2006 to give local food producers an outlet, and now stocks free-range meat, cheese, and baked goods made on site under the Derwen Own label, including sausage rolls prepared fresh daily. The centre includes thirteen small themed display gardens and a restaurant serving daily specials and cakes. Kath and Andy's daughter Rachael now manages the farm shop, while the family's tree and hedging wholesale operation continues from the adjoining Dingle Nurseries. Dogs are not permitted inside the garden centre buildings.
