Ffion Rees set up Falcon Boats in 2016 after more than a decade working the waters around Ramsey Sound, naming the business after Hiss, a peregrine falcon she had watched over St Justinian. A St David's lifeboat crew member of over sixteen years' standing and a WiSe-accredited wildlife skipper, she runs the boat trips herself from an office at 10 New Street in St Davids, with departures from the St Justinian slipway a short drive from the city. Trips range from ninety-minute runs around Ramsey Island's sea caves and seabird cliffs to full-day voyages out to Grassholm and what she calls the Celtic Deep, and a dedicated crossing to Skomer Island to see its puffin colony in season. Evening trips time crossings to watch Manx shearwaters return to their burrows at dusk. Sailings run through the spring, summer and early autumn and depend on sea conditions, so bookings are taken subject to weather on the day.
