Fig &Fromage

Eleanor Whitby and Ed Murdoch opened the Urban Grocery on Newport-on-Tay's High Street in December 2020, after the events business they ran together stalled during the pandemic, then added a second shop, Fig & Fromage, a year later. The two were merged into one premises at 18 High Street in December 2023. The counter carries cheeses from Italy, France and Scotland alongside deli meats, bagels and locally roasted coffee, and the shop holds a licence, staying open for wine and cheese evenings on Thursday and Friday nights. It runs seven days a week, 9am to 5pm, with Fridays extending to 7pm. Whitby and Murdoch run the shop themselves, rather than through any wider retail group.
