Hackney City Farm was established in 1984 on the edge of Haggerston Park at 1a Goldsmiths Row. The farmyard keeps pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, chickens, ducks and geese, alongside a garden of raised vegetable beds, a bog garden and an orchard of apples, pears and plums. A tree nursery and butterfly house sit within the grounds, and produce from the beds and coops is sold through a small organic shop on site. The farm's café, Frizzante, serves breakfast and lunch from the courtyard garden using ingredients grown on the farm. Entry to the farmyard is free. The site has operated continuously at this single Hackney address for over four decades, run as a community and educational resource for the borough.
