La Viola Cafe & Bistro occupies a small corner unit on Earl Grey Street, close to the Usher Hall and Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh's West End. The kitchen runs a menu that draws on Turkish, Scottish, Italian and French cooking, serving breakfast and brunch through the day alongside soups, wraps and cakes and scones baked on site. Gluten-free options run across much of the menu. The café is family-run, taking orders for collection and local delivery as well as sit-in trade, and stays open later on Friday and Saturday evenings than the rest of the week. The room seats only a handful of tables, and the crowd is mostly theatre-goers, office workers and residents rather than passing tourist trade.
