Lough NeaghFishermen's Co-operative

A fishermen-owned cooperative at Toomebridge that manages the Lough Neagh eel fishery, one of the largest wild eel fisheries in Europe, along with rights to pollan, trout, perch and other lough species. Lough Neagh eel holds EU Protected Geographical Indication status, granted in 2011. Eels and other fish can be bought directly from the cooperative's site at Toomebridge, though pre-ordering is recommended, particularly for fresh eel in the May to November season.
